Meet Stockperks team

Founder's Story

The idea of Stockperks started around 14 years ago. I was working in Investor Relations at Microsoft and our CFO came into my office asking me what did we know about our retail shareholders. He was keen to engage with them, as were some key senior executives, but the question was, how do we do that? The simple answer was that corporates have minimal direct outreach with their retail shareholders. I remembered that in Australia, years before, I owned stock in a department store for the sole reason of getting a discount every time I shopped. I thought wouldn't it be great if we could offer a similar perk to our shareholders? Have a direct engagement with them? The time was not right, the technology was not there.

However, that idea stayed with me.

In late 2018 I brought the idea of implementing perks and rewards for retail shareholders up with my old boss. He remembered buying his first car - a Ford - using a retail shareholder discount, and was shocked that there wasn't already a service to streamline the process of redeeming them. With this conversation fresh in my mind, I brought the issue up with my husband, a technological genius, who realized that, on the back end at least, this service was absolutely doable.

The time was finally right. Stockperks was born.
